3D and Color Analysis for SweetACTIVE project at NPPC Food Research Institute
The National Agricultural and Food Centre (NPPC) in Slovakia is strengthening its food research capabilities with ScanRG’s Bakemeter at the Food Research Institute in Bratislava. As the first Bakemeter installation in Slovakia, the system supports advanced research on cereal-based foods and expands objective, data-driven quality analysis for bakery and cereal applications.
For researchers working with breads, biscuits, wafers, snacks, and other cereal products, appearance is an important part of product quality. Color consistency, shape, size, surface structure, and visible defects can all influence product evaluation and process development. By digitizing these attributes in 3D and color, Bakemeter helps teams generate repeatable product data and compare formulation or process changes more reliably across trials.
SweetACTIVE project, new sugar beet processing approach
A key reason this installation is especially relevant is its connection to sweetACTIVE, a Slovakia-based project linked to NPPC-VÚP and focused on new sugar-beet-based food ingredients. The project explores a new sugar beet processing approach and highlights the potential of these ingredients for food applications, making objective product analysis particularly valuable in bakery and cereal development.
For a project like sweetACTIVE, reliable 3D and color data can help researchers compare samples and evaluate visible product differences when new ingredients are introduced into formulations. The sweetACTIVE-related work highlighted by ScanRG names Zuzana Ciesarová and Kristína Kukurová, and we would also like to thank Petr Kovář and our partner O.K. SERVIS BioPro for their support during installation and training.
